Leaving meal/Bar Maroc Review ♡

Hey guys!

Today I'm doing something new on my blog which I've never done before, a restaraunt bar review!
Last night me and a coupe of girls from work went out for a meal and a few cocktails. It was my last shift at the Huddersfield H&M last week and I've now transferred!

Dannii enjoying the cushions!

We went to Bar Maroc which is a quirky little bar in Huddersfield. I'd never heard of it before but a lot of people recommended it from work so we thought we'd try it out. At first, I had no idea where the place was, but that's just because I don't know Huddersfield that well. Even when we got there I was confused as you have to go inside the building and upstairs to get to it, as soon as we walked in we were all completely amazed.

The whole place took me by surprise, from the outside I had no idea it would look like it does.

First of all I’ll start with something I didn’t even realise until I started this review, the whole pizza menu is vegetarian?! Although most places do serve vegetarian food now, in normal restaurants there’s a 99% chance that I’ll be eating pasta or pizza. Which I’m not complaining about, but there usually isn’t much variety. Each pizza costs only £4.50 and you can choose 3 toppings to have on there. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting the pizza to be as big as it was! I had mushrooms, peppers and feta cheese.

The food and cocktails are freshly made and you can see them being made while you’re stood at the bar. Alternatively, you can order and tell them where you’re going to be sitting, then the waiters will bring it up for you.

All the members of staff were extremely friendly and helpful, especially when they came round with free olives. DREAMS. The whole atmosphere was amazing, there are a number of rooms which you can go in, including an outside terrace for if you smoke/if it’s a hot day.  There’s the main  bar downstairs, a backroom which we went in that’s quieter and then the roof terrace.

The décor of the place was my favourite part of the experience. It was filled with throws, cushions, lanterns and really cool empty alcohol bottles with long candles in. This added to the amazing atmosphere which the staff and the music already created.

I'd highly reccomend going here, it's perfect for every occasion such as dates, drinks with friends, even family.

Sorry about the quality of the photos, I only had my iphone on hand!

Thanks for reading and I hope you have an amazing day!

Hotel Chocolat Chocolate Party! ♡

Hey Guys!

This post today is a lifestyle post, I feel like I need a bit more variation in my blog posts and I'd like this to become a blog about my life aswell as fashion. Partly to share experiences with others as I enjoy reading them myself, but also so I can look back in a few years and see what I was doing.

Last night my flatmate Zara invited myself and our other flatmate Naomi to a Hotel Chocolat Chocolate Party which was organised by her church group (that sentence is almost as big a mouthful as the one I had of chocolate!) For just £5 a ticket we got a free non alcoholic drink from the bar, lots of amazing tasters, a chocolate tempering demonstration and a chance to do it ourselves!

The vibe in the venue was amazing and it screamed a New York style bar with the way the interior was designed. As soon as we walked in we all couldn't stop saying how awesome it was and that we definitely needed to go again!

Pro.

I had a Virgin Raspberry Bellini which tasted amazing! It was really sweet and refreshing, it did take me a while to decide between getting this or a hot chocolate but I'm glad I went for this as it "refreshed my palette" haha! Which is what I needed after eating so much chocolate...

Zara had a Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate which I wasn't too sure on at first because I had one from Starbucks and absolutely hated it! This was a lot nicer than the one I tried there though. It was really rich and creamy, a little bit sickly but that's because there was so much chocolate going round.

Naomi had the Hazelnut Hot Chocolate which was one of my choices and it was a m a z i n g. No joke the best hot chocolate I've ever tried in my life. It was very smooth and milky and left the hazelnut taste in your mouth after, we just couldn't get enough of it!

We then went over to the chocolate lab and had a go at tempering the chocolate. I think we did quite well, Naomi was by far the best and I was the cleanest apparently! The guy that was doing the demonstrations was so friendly, as were all the waiters and bar staff, which made the atmosphere nice and everyone was having a good time.

I'd definitely reccommend going here again to people and I'm hoping we make another cheeky stop in soon!

I hope you enjoyed reading something a bit different from fashion on my blog, let me know what you think!

Also *announcement* last week I reached over 10,000 views on my blog, which to me is quite an achievement considering how much I actually want to blog and the lack of time I have to do it. It's really inspired me to blog more and I'll be holding a small giveaway soon in relation to this so keep your eyes peeled!

Thanks babes!

Primark Home Haul / Uni Room Sneak Peak! ♡

  Hey guys!

Yesterday I went into Primark on my way back from work to see the A/W clothes they had in and made the mistake of just 'browsing' the homeware section, then ended up leaving with 3 bags! Primark homeware is a good price in the first place but as people are leaving for uni and they have their home event, it's even cheaper!

Here is a few things that I picked up for my room at uni (which is slowly coming together, full post coming soon!)

Rose Fairy Lights - £4.90
White Textured Pillows - £4.90
Heart Pillow - £2
Ramones Pillow - £4/5 I think.. this one is old and not available anymore

Cream XL Throw - £4.90
Just thought I'd leave a little note that this throw is absolutely AMAZING. It's so soft I just want to curl up in it all day! It's perfect for at night when it's a bit colder but it will be hell trying to get out of it and up for uni/work...

Super excited that I have a FIREPLACE!? Ultimate dream feature
 Fairy Lights - £3.00
Bunting - £1 Sale Last Summer

Laundry Bag - £2.30

Even though this isn't a home item, I thought i'd throw it in too because it's amazing!!! It's for when I'm walking to uni in the morning and it's actually really good quality because it's one with the metal on the inside, and only £3 ♡

I hope you enjoyed seeing this haul even if it was a small one. Also having a little sneak peek of my new flat! I've only got my rug to move in then I'm all done and the post will be waiting! Until then if you'd like to know where anything else is from just leave a comment ♡

Simple tips for living with eczema ♡

Hey guys!

I've always had sensitive skin and have always known which products to use and which to mark with a big red cross and completely avoid. However, I've been struggling with eczema for the past few years and, as no one in my family had it, I was at a loss on how to cope with it.

It started back in 2011 when I first went to university and the doctors wrote it off as a side effect of stress and that was it. I was still left to deal with it on my own with a bag of creams which I had no idea what they were actually for, just that I had to basically cover myself in them 24/7 (including sleeping which was horrible).

Now I have my skin under control and I know which products to use, both for my skin and also things that could affect it such as shower gels and washing powder. I've decided to write a few tips incase they help anyone, I'm definitely not a doctor or an expert but these are just some things that have helped me.

1. Try not to get too stressed about things - if you know me, this might seem like an unlikely tip because I usually get too stressed out over the tiniest thing due to my anxiety. I've recently tried to get this under control and before stressing, think of a logical solution, there's one for everything! This helps to keep it under control as my outbreaks happen most when I'm stressed out, sometimes without even realising I'm doing it.

2. Research into products that may trigger your skin and find alternatives - An example of this is make up, I usually use organic/cruelty free make up anyway because of my feelings towards animal testing. These products usually do not contain any harsh chemicals anyway so it's worth switching for the sake of your skin. The skin on my face is extremely sensitive and any make up that is full of horrible stuff always makes it worse, living with eczema is one thing but when it's visible I get extremely paranoid.

Another example of this is shower cream, this is the same with make up and I only use organic products or products that say they have less or no harsh chemicals in them. However, just because you're switching to organic does not mean you can't have things that smell nice, it is a must to avoid products that have a lot of perfumes in but you can still get products that get their scent from natural resources. A few examples of this are Lush cosmetics and the body shop, however it is always different depending on the individual so what will work for me, may not for you. It's all about trial and error until you find the perfect products for you.

Here are two products that I use on my skin that are not prescribed but just some things that I've picked up and found useful.

Lush - Dream Cream
Lush - Dream Cream

The Body Shop - Aloa Soothing Day Cream

3. Minimising risk of itching - Now the first tip I have for this may not please a few of you beauty bloggers but trust me it makes all the difference. If you're like me and your skin flares up when it's hot or at night, cut your nails down. This might seem like a weird one but having your skin feel better and small nails is definitely better than waking up with inflamed skin and covered in blood. (Sorry for the graphics but if your skin is really bad and you itch at night, it's more important to look after that than having longer nails).

4. Ask your doctor to recommend you to a skin specialist - I don't know about you but sometimes when I go to the doctors it feels like you're in and out with a prescription as long as your arm, then end up forgetting everything they said to you in the past five minutes anyway. I've been to numerous doctors over the years to try and help my skin and I've always left with random creams that I don't know how to use properly or what they're even for. Until recently, I spoke to my local doctor and he analysed my skin properly and took swabs etc to find out what was actually causing it and gave me antibiotics for the infection. He then referred me to another doctor that specialises in skin diseases and she read the notes then repeated the examination just to make sure he had got them all right. She sat with me and explained every product she was prescribing me and what it's for, how often I should use them and tips on making my skin better.

5. Think about your environment - Recently I've moved out of my student halls and into a house with a few friends, the house that we have is an old Victorian style house and there is a lot of old wood. I noticed when I first moved in that my skin was really bad, the change in environment set it off and every time I got it under control, it got bad again. I'm now making sure that there is a lot of air coming into the flat and that I'm keeping on top of dust etc daily to minimise risk of it getting bad.

6. Pets - I really don't like this one but it's got to be done for my health! I have 3 cats at home and although I'm not allergic, they can irritate my skin if it's bad. My advice would be to try and make as little contact as you can with your pets until your skin clears up and take precautions such as keeping them off your bed/away from clothes.

That's it for this post but I've planned a daily skin care routine post and my skin care favourites too! If you have any tips leave them in the comments and i'll give it a go!

Thanks for reading ♡
