Dr Martens - Help For Heroes - Boxing Day 2012 SALE ♡

Hello!
Today I'm going to be doing a review on an event/sale which I went to on Boxing Day 2012.
I've been meaning to get around to this for so long and it's almost a month late! Oops. Although I haven't really seen a lot of reviews or blog posts from people who went to this event so I'm not sure a lot of people even knew about it.

So the event was based on Boxing Day 2012, I only heard about it about a week before it happened and I heard it from a friend at work/advertised on the DM's twitter page.
We arrived at the Dr Marten store on Manchester Market Street at around 8:45 and there was already a queue! It was only around 10-15 people, give or take, but it didn't take long for the queue to grow again!

I looked around while we was waiting and noticed the queues to other shops building up with boxing day sales enthusiasts! (By this time I had already seen atleast 20+ bright coloured Next sales bags as they open at like 5/6am?! crazy..)

The Dr Martens waiting line was easily the longest, Urban Outfitters proving a good competition at first but ultimately the amount of people that showed up was ridiculolus! One of the DM employees even came out to take pictures of the queue and equally couldn't believe the turn out.

Boxing day sales isn't usually something I do, usually due to me working them, but when it's an offer like this I couldn't resist!

The Dr Martens shoes were ones that had been loaned out to people involved in the olympics (not sure if it was athletes?) and they were being resold for £20.12 (2012 olympics) some worn, some new. It was a maximum of 3 pairs per customer and was only the boots that had been tagged with the help for heroes label. Dr Martens donated the full price of each boot sold to the Help for Heroes Limited charity.

As soon as we got into the shop it was a mad rush to get the pair you wanted! The shop is only small and the shoes were laid organized in colour on the floor and around the table in the middle of the shop as soon as you walk in. Each pair was attatched together which I thought was a really good idea so you didn't end up with one size 5 and one size 11! (even though you'd notice that...maybe a size 5 and a 6 you wouldn't) At first I found it difficult to find my size and it wasn't guaranteed that you would get the ones you went in specifically for as it was first come first served. Eventually there were that many people in the shop that the sales assistant had to shut the door until people left!
Although it was a hard task to find the size I wanted, I thought it was a good idea that they were laid out in colour rather than size, because a lot of people would rush for the average sizes straight away and it wouldn't really be fair.

I grabbed the colours I wanted and tried them on and ended up with 4 pairs as my boyfriend got me a pair also as a christmas present. As we got to the till the sales assistants were very helpful and polite, even though the shop was absolutely crazy!! They were serving the promotion shoes first to try and get the rush out of the way and were extremely apologetic to the customers who needed help with the normal, non-promotional shoes and offered to help them with sizing after the rush was out of the way.

Overall I was impressed with the day and how it was organized and I am more than happy with the ones I got!! (Especially my white ones, I don't think i've taken them off since!)

I'd say if you haven't purchased a pair of Doc Martens before then it should definitely be on your bucket list. They go with absolutely anything and are definitely worth the price in terms of quality.

Here are a few pictures of the ones I got (Sadly I am selling the lilac size 5's and the purple size 8's as they're the wrong sizes, I thought I might be able to wear no socks in the summer with the smaller size and fill the size 8 out with socks! but i'd rather someone else have them who would get more wear out of them.)

(I can't take a picture of these as they're still tied together and i've already sold them!)
